I rented a minibus from Budget at Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW), and they handed me the keys without a proper inspection—just had me sign the form and go. The parking area was dimly lit, making it impossible to notice any details. The form already listed 26 different damages on the vehicle, but I had no time to verify them since people were waiting for me at the airport.
I drove exclusively on highways and divided roads to Eskişehir and back, without any incidents, yet when I returned the vehicle, they claimed I had damaged the side skirt and front bumper. They pressured me into signing the return form, even though those exact areas had already been marked at pickup.
Later, Budget called, demanding I pay for the damages. I told them to check the previous rental records, video/photo evidence, and parking lot security footage to prove I wasn’t responsible. Instead of investigating, they sent the repair bill to my home via legal enforcement, without even notifying me first.
Yes, I should have insisted on a more thorough initial inspection, but Budget’s failure to check their own records and unfairly charge customers for pre-existing damage is unacceptable.
