Booking.com Sold Me a Room in a Closed Hotel – No Refund, No Support

March 10, 2025 5:03 PM16

I booked a double room at Orbeliani Residence Hotel in Tbilisi, Georgia, through Booking.com for the dates March 1-5, 2025. However, when I arrived in Tbilisi, I was shocked to find that the hotel was permanently closed! I was left stranded in the middle of the night, in a foreign country, with nowhere to stay.

To make matters worse, Booking.com has been completely unhelpful. I reached out to their customer service, but they either ignored my messages for days or responded with generic, dismissive replies. They initially told me they would get back to me within five days, but now they say there’s nothing they can do and that I should contact the hotel directly—a hotel that no longer exists!

How is it even possible that Booking.com is still selling reservations for a hotel that has shut down? Not only have they failed to verify their listings, but they also refuse to refund my money despite leaving me stranded in freezing weather.
