Booking.com Refund And Compensation
My name is Ian Rowlett A*** and I am writing about a Booking.com reservation for Comfort Inn, Gresham, Blackpool, for the night of 8 August. I booked and paid for this stay around five months in advance through my Booking.com account. After the booking, my computer crashed and I completely lost access to the email account I used for the reservation (andersonh***@yahoo.co.uk) and to my original Booking.com account. About two weeks before 8 August, I finally managed to reach a Booking.com representative via online chat. In that chat, your representative confirmed the hotel name, address, date of stay, and the fee paid, but did not provide me with a booking number. Because I still had no booking number, I emailed the hotel in advance explaining the situation and asking them to contact me by email if there was any problem, but I received no reply. When I arrived at the Comfort Inn in Gresham, Blackpool on 8 August, the hotel informed me that there was no room and no reservation for me at all. At the hotel reception I called Booking.com using the owner’s phone and spent around 40 minutes on the call. The representative I spoke to acknowledged that there was a problem and told me she would call back in a few minutes, but no one called me back. After waiting about an hour, I was forced to look for alternative accommodation on the spot. Because it was a busy night in Blackpool, room prices were around £200 everywhere. In the end I had to share a room with a friend and pay the hotel £70 just to have somewhere to sleep. After this incident I called Booking.com again, waited around 50 minutes, explained the whole situation once more and was again told that I would receive a call back in a few minutes, which never happened. Since 8 August I have sent seven emails to Booking.com and filled out around fifteen complaint forms. It is now 27 August and I have still not received a proper response. I have received automated emails with reference numbers that do not work or lead nowhere, and no one has taken ownership of the issue or offered any resolution. I request a full refund of the original room cost of £60, which I paid for a room that was not provided, and an additional £200 in compensation to reflect the actual market cost of alternative accommodation on that night and the stress and inconvenience caused. I ask that this matter be investigated urgently and that I be contacted with a clear explanation and a concrete solution.
