Booking.com Misleading Pricing: €30 Shown → ~€190 Total

I made an apartment reservation in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia via Booking.com for a stay starting on 9 April. During the booking process, the price was prominently displayed at around €30 for the entire week, which was the basis for my decision to book. However, after completing the reservation, I was charged a total amount that was about five times higher, due to approximately €160 in additional fees that were not clearly integrated into the total price during the booking flow. These extra charges appeared only in small print while the much lower price was highlighted and made prominent, which in practice is highly misleading. The main visible price did not reflect the actual total cost I would have to pay. I made the reservation on 25 March and only realized the full amount after the booking was finalized, at which point the entire higher sum was charged to my card. I contacted Booking.com by email to report that the way the price and fees were presented is deceptive. Instead of addressing the misleading pricing display, the reply only referred me to the accommodation’s cancellation rules and to the fact that the fees were “shown,” ignoring how they were shown and how the overall price was framed. I am now proceeding to submit a transaction complaint to my bank and will cancel the reservation. I request a full refund of the amount charged, as I would not have proceeded with this booking if the true total cost had been clearly and prominently shown from the outset. In addition, I expect Booking.com to review this property’s pricing practices and the way fees are displayed, and to take appropriate action so that other customers are not misled in the same way.
