BMW Excluded My 2014 525 xDrive From EGR Recall Despite Known Fire Risk

My 2014 BMW 525 xDrive has a well-known chronic issue related to the EGR valve and EGR cooler system. What makes this situation even more frustrating is that a friend of mine, who purchased a vehicle on the same day with the same model and very similar technical specifications, had their vehicle included in the official recall process for this exact problem, while my vehicle was excluded from the recall campaign entirely.

This situation is extremely disappointing and does not match the premium quality, engineering reputation, and customer trust associated with the BMW brand. Customers choose BMW expecting high standards of safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction. A defect that is already widely recognized as chronic — and which has even led to recalls in several countries because of potential engine fire risks — should not be selectively addressed for some customers while others are left to deal with the consequences alone.

This issue is not only about repair costs. It directly concerns engine safety and the possibility of serious fire hazards. Being told “your vehicle is outside the recall scope” despite having the same known defect creates a major sense of unfairness and customer neglect.

My expectation from BMW and the relevant authorities is clear: I request a detailed written technical explanation regarding why my vehicle was excluded from the recall despite having the same chronic issue. I also request that my case be reconsidered either under goodwill support or within the recall scope so that the defect and resulting customer dissatisfaction can be properly resolved.

For such a long-established and prestigious automotive brand to leave customers in this situation is truly a major disappointment.
