Beymen Personal Data Protection Law Violation
On Sunday, December 17, 2023, I shared my shopping experience at the Mall Of Istanbul Beymen Club with the brand, as requested. However, I refrained from explicitly describing the employees' behavior in the initial communication. Subsequently, the lady, who identified herself as the store manager on the date of my shopping, reached out to me on Wednesday, December 20, using her personal number. She informed me that the email I had sent to the brand had been forwarded to her, providing her perspective on the events of that day. I intend to share these details, including the behaviors of the lady and the employee towards the customer, on my social media accounts. The primary issue I wish to address on this platform is the direct sharing of my personal number with the subject of the complaint, which violates the rules of the Personal Data Protection Law, without my explicit permission. Upon informing the company of this breach via [email protected], the lady who initially contacted me claimed that it was their standard procedure to transfer complaints directly to the relevant person. Disputing this claim, I requested that a more knowledgeable individual regarding Personal Data Protection Law contact me. Following my reminder email, a different lady from the same department called a week later, acknowledging that the actions taken were not in line with their procedures. Aside from the disregard for the importance of the Personal Data Protection Law, the conflicting information provided by two individuals within the same department and company is incongruent with the esteemed brand values of the store.
