Avis Car Rental Office Closed – Paid Reservation but No Car Provided

On March 7, 2026, I made a reservation to rent a Renault Clio from the Avis office at Colmar Train Station under reservation number 734670196. The scheduled pick-up time was 11:30 AM, but due to delays with my flight and transfers, I arrived at the station at around 1:30 PM.
When we arrived at the Avis office, it was completely closed. We repeatedly called the contact number posted on the door, but no one answered, and there was no emergency contact number provided. We later learned that some customers had their car keys left at a nearby hotel, but no such arrangement had been made for our reservation, and we were not informed of any alternative key pick-up method.
Between 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM, we spent about two hours trying to resolve the issue by calling the number on the office door as well as Avis customer service lines in Switzerland, Turkey, and France. Despite all these attempts, we were unable to reach any representative, the office remained closed, and the vehicle was never provided to us.
Because of this, our weekend trip was seriously disrupted. Since we could not find an alternative rental car on short notice, we had to rely on options such as Uber for transportation and ended up paying significantly higher costs than planned. I paid approximately $77 for a two-day rental, yet I never received the vehicle and no refund has been issued so far.
I find it unacceptable to be charged for a service that was not provided and to be left without any support or communication in such a situation. I kindly request a full refund for this reservation and a prompt review of this incident, taking into account the inconvenience, additional expenses, and distress caused.
