About five months ago, I purchased the Asics Gel-Trabuco 13 GTX from Intersport. The shoes were marketed as featuring Gore-Tex technology and being durable in all types of outdoor conditions. I mainly used them for daily city walks, especially in rainy weather, as well as for light hiking. However, I have experienced serious disappointment with their performance.
Despite the Gore-Tex label and the promise of waterproof protection, the shoes started leaking from the upper toe area during my very first uses in rainy conditions. For a technical shoe that is supposed to be waterproof, allowing water in after such a short time clearly indicates what I consider to be a manufacturing defect.
In addition, the outsole, which is advertised as providing reliable traction on wet and slippery surfaces, does the exact opposite—it is extremely slippery. Particularly in rainy weather, the grip is almost nonexistent, creating a safety risk while walking. Due to both the water leakage and the inadequate traction, the product does not meet its advertised technical claims.
When I contacted Asics customer service, I was told to bring the shoes to the store for inspection. However, being without the shoes during the inspection process would create a significant inconvenience for my daily use.
For all these reasons, I request that the Asics Gel-Trabuco 13 GTX be evaluated as a defective product. I am asking for a replacement to resolve my issue, or if that is not possible, a full refund.
