Amazon Sells "pre-registered" DJI Products Without Warning Customers!
On May 3, 2026, I purchased a DJI Osmo Action 4 action camera from the seller “amazondepo” through Amazon for approximately $411 USD. The product was listed as “like new,” meaning an opened-box item, but one of the most critical issues with the device was never clearly disclosed in the listing.
During the setup process, I discovered that the camera had previously been activated and linked to another user’s DJI account before it was sent to me. Because of this, I cannot properly connect the device to my PC, cannot perform firmware updates through the normal process, and cannot register the camera to my own DJI account. In other words, I was sold a technically restricted and partially disabled product, yet this important limitation was completely hidden during the sale.
When I contacted Amazon customer support about the issue, I was initially told to remain patient and that the matter would be resolved. However, I later received an email stating that they do not provide support for this kind of issue and that if I was unhappy, I should simply return the product.
I completely reject this approach. Of course I can return the device, but that only means another customer will likely face the same hidden problem in the future. I believe Amazon and the seller are avoiding responsibility instead of properly resolving the issue.
I am not asking Amazon to share the personal information of the previous owner of the device. However, I do expect Amazon and the seller “amazondepo” to provide a concrete solution to remove the device from the previous DJI account so that I can fully use the product I purchased. Otherwise, I am left with a restricted camera that I cannot properly register or update under my own account.
I also expect Amazon to prevent the sale of “like new” products that contain undisclosed technical restrictions or account-lock issues. I request a clear and effective resolution regarding my DJI Osmo Action 4 device and the unfair situation I have been placed in.
