On July 10, 2024 (Wednesday), my Alfa Romeo, which is still under warranty, displayed a fault warning. I immediately contacted the authorized service center, and they told me the car needed to be connected to their diagnostic system for an error check. Since I live in Akhisar, I had to drive all the way to Izmir to visit the service center.
After diagnosing the issue, they told me that the electric water pump needed replacement, but they didn’t have the part in stock. They said it would arrive the next day or the day after and advised me not to drive the car, but then contradictorily suggested I drive it back carefully.
By Friday, July 12, at noon, they informed me that the part had arrived and asked me to bring the car in. Since I was coming from out of town, I asked if I arrived at 8:30 AM the next morning, would it be done in time? They said they would check with the technician and later confirmed that the job would take only two hours.
However, on Friday evening, I received a call saying the repair would take longer than expected, and I should bring the car next Wednesday instead. If the car isn’t safe to drive, how does it make sense for me to drive it 120km back and forth?
Since I had been told the job would be done quickly, we even scheduled a doctor’s appointment for Saturday at noon, assuming my car would be ready. Frustrated, I called Alfa Romeo’s central customer service, and they told me their office was closed but they would open a support ticket.
The next morning, I dropped off my car at 9 AM and emphasized how urgent the repair was. They said they would call me back in the morning—but no one did. My wife and I had to take a second car just to leave the vehicle at the service center. They then told me the repair should be completed by noon, but once again, no one provided an update.
I called Alfa Romeo’s customer service again, and they told me they would open another ticket, only to later admit no ticket had been opened at all. They assured me they would contact the service center immediately and call me back. Three hours passed—no call. When I called again, they claimed they couldn’t reach the service center and would try again. Two more hours passed, and when I called again, they acted like they were hearing about my issue for the first time!
At this point, I have had enough. As soon as this repair is done, I will sell this car and switch to another brand. Alfa Romeo has been nothing but a regretful experience. If you are considering buying one, I strongly advise against it!
