We rented the Elif-1 villa with a private pool via Airbnb for 4 nights, advertised as being just 4 minutes from the beach. Upon arrival, the host spent a lot of time praising themselves and their properties while harshly criticizing past guests. Things quickly went downhill. Although we clearly stated we were a group of 7, there were not enough towels provided. Two of the toilets had broken seats, and the refrigerator was barely functional—our cheese and sausage spoiled and started to smell, which forced us to clean up after the appliance.
The garden lights shut off automatically around 12:30 AM, and the stove took about 5 minutes to light with a lighter. None of the doors in the house had locks, so we couldn’t even secure the bathroom while in use. Despite paying ₺3,000 for a cleaning fee, we were asked to vacuum the house and wash and organize the dishes before leaving.
We left behind extra items like 20 rolls of toilet paper, dish sponges, olive oil, tea, coffee, paper towels, and packaged wipes. There was only one roll of toilet paper in the house when we arrived.
To make matters worse, after we left a lower rating for some of these issues, the host contacted us via voice message in an inappropriate tone, demanding we justify the review in order to get our deposit back.
This experience was both frustrating and disappointing. I urge Airbnb to review this host’s behavior and listing standards, and I request that all related issues—especially the deposit and misleading service expectations—be addressed immediately.
