I booked a room on Airbnb for November 11, 2025 with a terrace and a jacuzzi (confirmation code: HMYT3XARJR), specifically at my daughter’s request. I clearly told the host, Mr. E***, that the main purpose of this rental was the jacuzzi.
However, from the moment we entered the room, the issues we faced turned our day into a constant search for help and made it impossible for us to stay there:
Fundamental Defects: Shortly after entering the room, I discovered that the jacuzzi drain was clogged and that only extremely hot water was coming from the taps, making it impossible to fill and use the jacuzzi.
Hygiene Violations: In addition, the bidet spray in the bathroom was not working, and the entire place was filled with a very strong smell of oniony, tomato-based food.
Trying to Fix Problems, Not Use the Room: The roughly two hours we spent in the room were entirely taken up by trying to reach the host, waiting for a technician to come and attempt to clear the drain with a pump, and hoping the issues would be resolved. When they weren’t, we decided it was impossible to stay under these conditions and left the room.
Unfair Refund Denial:
Despite these clear and provable service defects, my refund request to Airbnb was denied based on the host’s completely false and bad-faith claim that “you used the room and the jacuzzi.” Airbnb Support ignored the service failures, left the decision entirely to the host, and closed the case stating they would provide no further assistance.
Request:
For a service that was effectively unusable and full of fundamental defects, I demand an immediate refund of $91. It is unacceptable for Airbnb to ignore an obviously defective service and side with an unfair statement, thereby causing harm to the consumer.
I also wish to state that I will be taking this issue to the Consumer Arbitration Board and pursuing my rights through legal channels.
