I booked an Air Montenegro flight from İzmir to Tivat on May 26. When my family (3 adults and 1 child) arrived at the airport, we were shocked to learn the flight had been canceled. Upon contacting customer service, they claimed they had sent a cancellation email on April 15 and that it was marked as "read." If I had truly seen that email, why would I show up at the airport with my family?
To make matters worse, no refund was processed in April. We confirmed this with our online banking records. The refund was only issued after we protested at the airport on May 26, and we have the exact timestamp from our bank statement.
Due to non-refundable hotel and car reservations, we had no choice but to purchase last-minute tickets to Tirana, the only available option. We waited 9 hours at the airport, paid a much higher fare, flew to Tirana, and then took a taxi to Kotor at midnight, which cost even more. We ended up paying for a hotel night and car rental that we never used. This caused significant financial and emotional distress.
While Air Montenegro later handled a schedule change on our return flight (June 8 from Tivat to Istanbul) more professionally by offering hotel and transport support, I expect the same consideration for the outbound flight. I am demanding full compensation for the financial and emotional damages caused by the unannounced cancellation and lack of timely refund.
