On April 3, 2025, I was flying from Barcelona Airport to Paris CDG on Air France flight AF1349. At the gate, Air France staff told me my cabin-size Samsonite suitcase had to be checked in because the cabin was supposedly full. Trusting their instructions, I handed it over.
However, once I boarded, I was shocked to see plenty of passengers with their cabin bags inside the aircraft and empty overhead bins. There was absolutely no reason to have taken my bag.
Worse yet, the brand-new Samsonite suitcase I had purchased just a day prior arrived at baggage claim scratched, peeled, and visibly battered. I’ve attached photos and the purchase receipt as proof. It is clear that the bag was roughly handled and carelessly thrown into the hold by Air France staff.
This treatment is unacceptable. I paid good money for a premium suitcase, and it was damaged after just one use—through no fault of my own.
I am formally requesting compensation for the physical damage to my luggage and a proper explanation for why my bag was forcibly checked despite cabin space being available. Air France must take full responsibility for this negligence.
