I booked a round-trip ticket with Air Albania for a flight scheduled between September 12-16. While the departure flight went smoothly, the return flight was an absolute disaster. At the airport, I was told by an arrogant staff member that my flight had been canceled, without any explanation provided to the passengers. I spent two hours waiting in front of the office to speak with someone, only to find the responsible person leisurely walking around with a coffee. When I asked what we should do next, I was told that the next available flight was on September 22, which was impossible for me as I needed to be back at work the next day. The staff suggested I book a flight with another airline, but I’d have to pay for it myself.
I had already paid €213 for my round-trip ticket, and now the cheapest one-way ticket I could find was €550! I ended up finding a flight two days later for €200. To add insult to injury, the compensation for the flight cancellation was only €129, which didn’t even cover the cost of my replacement flight. On top of that, I had to pay for two extra nights at a hotel, food, and transportation, leaving me with a loss of around €300.
Airlines are supposed to cover accommodation, transfers, and meals after flight cancellations – information easily found online. But Air Albania didn’t offer any compensation, nor did they respond to my refund request. I was left stranded, sick, and financially burdened. I highly advise against using Air Albania unless you have no other options. I ended up spending more on my return than I did on my actual vacation.
