I booked two rooms through the Agoda app after carefully monitoring prices for days. I chose specific dates when the rates were lower, avoiding the more expensive options. The reservation was confirmed, paid through Agoda, and even verified directly with Smart City Hotel Bodrum. The hotel assured me that everything was in order, and I also received an email confirmation.
However, today, I unexpectedly received an email from the hotel asking me to cancel my reservation. When I called them, they claimed that they suddenly stopped working with Agoda and that my booking was made at an incorrectly listed price. But when I booked, they were actively working with Agoda, and the price shown is not my responsibility. This is an issue between the hotel and Agoda, and I should not be penalized for it.
How can a hotel force a guest to cancel a confirmed and paid reservation? This is completely unacceptable. My reservation is still visible in Agoda as confirmed and paid, and I refuse to cancel it. As a consumer, I have the right to purchase a service at the advertised price. Even in a supermarket, if a price is incorrect, the customer still has the right to buy it at that price.
I called the hotel again, explained my concerns, and was told that management would get back to me. I am still waiting for a response. This situation is extremely frustrating—why play with people’s plans and emotions like this?
I expect Agoda and the hotel to resolve this issue between themselves without causing me any further inconvenience.
