Agoda Charged for 'Free Cancellation' Tokyo Hotel Bookings

I recently made several hotel reservations for Tokyo through Agoda, specifically choosing hotels that offered "free cancellation" with refundable rates. Due to uncertainty about my travel dates and group size, I decided to book multiple options until my plans were finalized.
I made reservations with the following IDs: 1256168280, 1258205192, 1258205364, 1258205628, and 443440187. Once my plans were settled, I cancelled these bookings, expecting no charges as per the "free cancellation" policy.
However, to my shock, I discovered charges on my bank statement for these supposedly free cancellations. When I tried to contact Agoda to dispute these charges, it proved impossible to reach them. I then reached out to the hotel directly, but they refused to issue a refund.
Adding to my frustration, I noticed that I appear to have three reservations for the same hotel, which is another issue entirely.
My advice: Avoid booking through Agoda. It's not worth risking your money.
