Yapi Kredi Bank: Unwanted Credit Card Charges for Salary Account Holders
I recently became a salary account holder at Yapİ Kredi Bank. A bank representative, while handling our application at the workplace, sent a credit card alongside. As all our staff simultaneously processed it, the action was swift. Assuming, as with previous banks, that being a salary account holder meant no charges, I started using the card. It's only been 5 months, and suddenly I was billed 692 TL as a card fee. Contacting the bank, they claimed it wasn't a feature in my salary account agreement, and when I raised concern about the high fee, they insisted it was a "special" (a card I didn't select, apparently quite "premium") card. When I called to request the cancellation of this unwanted card due to being a salary account holder, they offered to cancel it if I could earn 600 TL in bonuses within the year. I'm not interested in bonuses, salary promotions, or any other bank perks due to my personal beliefs. I strongly object to the high, unrequested card fee. Yes, a credit card agreement might allow card fees under certain circumstances, but I was essentially locked into this card model when bulk contracts were made, and it was irregularly included with my salary account documents.
