I Was Charged a Card Fee Unfairly
My credit card from İş Bankası was delivered on December 28, 2024. I first activated it on June 16, 2025, and made my first purchase on June 26. Despite this, the bank charged me a ₺894.08 annual card fee. When I objected, I was rudely told that the fee would only be refunded if I spent ₺18,000 per month for six months, totaling ₺108,000. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, especially for a customer of 14 years, while other banks are more supportive. Additionally, although my statement balance was ₺1,572.49 (including the card fee), I paid ₺1,000, and the remaining ₺572.49 was withdrawn from my overdraft account on July 7, 2025, under “automatic collection.” When I called customer service, they claimed that this feature was enabled during card setup. However, I never activated it. I applied for the card at the Samsun Central (7300) branch, where they took my phone and handled the process. It appears the staff activated this setting without informing me. When I asked to cancel the instruction, they said no such instruction existed, while also insisting one was entered at the start. These statements are completely contradictory. There’s absolutely no customer satisfaction or consistency, and I will never do business with this bank again.
