I Was Charged an Annual Fee Even After Canceling

I was using İş Bank’s credit card when I noticed a charge of ₺836 applied to my account as the annual usage fee for 2025–2026. I immediately contacted the bank and spent 21 minutes on the phone with customer service. In the end, I told them I wanted to cancel the card and no longer use it. The representative informed me that even if I closed the card, I would still have to pay the fee. However, I will not be using the card, which means I won’t be receiving any service in return for that charge. They also said that if I cancel the card, I would lose my one-year usage right but still be obligated to pay. I told them I felt unfairly treated, but the representative simply advised me to pursue legal action. I believe it’s unethical for the bank to profit from a service I won’t even use.
