Yapi Kredi Bank Shut Down Card Without Clear Warning

I am a salary customer of Yapı Kredi Bank, and I had outstanding debt equal to roughly one to one and a half months of my salary through my credit card and overdraft account. During this period, due to delays of only one to two days, I paid my credit card minimum payment late a total of three times. As a result, my credit card was completely blocked for use. Prior to these delays, I did not receive any clear or explicit warning—such as an SMS stating that “your card will be blocked if the minimum payment is paid late.” Despite this, my card was blocked, and I only realized this afterward.

On the other hand, during these 10-day delay periods, I was repeatedly called every month by a company named Collecturk on behalf of Yapı Kredi. I informed them that my salary is automatically deducted on the 15th of each month, that I was aware legal action would begin after 90 days, and that my financial difficulty would end within three months and I would pay my debt in full. Despite this, they continued calling me persistently. When I answered the calls, they often disconnected after about seven seconds. This situation caused me serious psychological distress. Additionally, the phone numbers used by Collecturk consistently appeared on my phone as “fake,” “spam,” or “suspicious calls.”

Because my credit card minimum payment was delayed briefly once or twice, the card being completely blocked, the lack of clear prior warning, and the failure to offer any solution afterward have left me feeling both wronged and psychologically exhausted. In January, after paying off my entire credit card balance, I submitted a request to have my card reactivated. However, I received a vague response stating that it would be evaluated “based on eligibility.”

I am requesting that Yapı Kredi Bank issue an apology for sharing my personal data with Collecturk in a manner that violates data protection laws. Despite having paid my full credit card debt in January, I am requesting that my card be reactivated, that the practice of blocking cards without sufficient notice be reviewed, and that the frequent and disturbing call practices carried out through Collecturk be stopped. I also request that the nature and frequency of these calls be audited and that necessary corrective actions be taken.

I expect Yapı Kredi Bank to conduct a detailed investigation into this process, implement corrective measures, reactivate my credit card, and take concrete steps to end the psychologically distressing calls.
