On July 22, 2025, I received a suspicious call on WhatsApp from the number +62 838-2353-6662. I normally don't answer unknown numbers, but out of reflex, I picked up and immediately hung up. Right after, I blocked the number and used WhatsApp’s in-app “Report” feature to flag it.
Given the increasing number of fraud cases involving messaging platforms, I am now deeply concerned. If any unauthorized activity occurs on my bank accounts, such as cash withdrawals, loans, or credit card purchases, I will hold WhatsApp directly responsible for not securing its platform against such threats. It is unacceptable that scammers can so easily reach users through a platform that claims to be secure.
I expect WhatsApp to take stronger action against international scam calls and provide real security mechanisms to protect users. If I experience any financial or personal loss as a result of this incident, I will pursue every legal and judicial route available to hold WhatsApp accountable. Users deserve better protection.
