On April 9, 2026, around 2:00 PM, I requested a taxi through Uber in Istanbul. I had a 40% promotion applied to my account for that ride. At the end of the trip, when I said I would use my promotion, the driver firmly refused, saying, “I don’t deal with Uber—whatever the taximeter says, you pay that.” When I asked, “Then why are you accepting passengers through Uber?” the driver began insulting and swearing at me. While I was holding my baby, I felt so unsafe that I had to quickly get out of the vehicle. Even though I said I could pay the normal fare, he refused that as well and forced me out of the car.
The vehicle’s license plate was 34 TFT 74. After the incident, I reported everything in detail through the Uber app. However, the response I received was completely inadequate—they only stated that I would not be matched with the same driver again. On top of that, even though the driver refused to accept payment at the time, the fare was later charged to me and I was told I would have to pay it on my next ride. Being left alone with an aggressive and abusive driver, and then being asked to pay unfairly afterward, clearly shows a serious safety and system failure.
Given what happened, I first demand that the fare for this trip be completely canceled and not charged to my account. Additionally, I request that strict disciplinary action be taken against this driver—who both violated Uber policies and verbally abused me—including removal from the platform or severe penalties. I cannot accept such disregard for passenger safety and rights, and I expect a clear and satisfactory resolution.
