Turkish Airlines Rejected My Baggage Damage Claim Due to Missing Night Report
Turkish Airlines damaged my baggage during a flight from IST to CLJ. Since there was no Turkish Airlines office at Cluj Airport at night where I could report the damage, I took a photo of the baggage at the airport and then contacted Turkish Airlines customer service. With the help of the representative, I filed a damage claim. After a “detailed” investigation that took two months, Turkish Airlines rejected the claim, stating that I hadn’t obtained a report from the airport office—which, as I explained, doesn’t even exist at night. So apparently, if you fly with Turkish Airlines to a small airport during the night, they can damage your baggage without taking any responsibility, and it becomes the passenger’s problem. I expect Turkish Airlines to take responsibility for the damage they caused instead of hiding behind unreasonable excuses that passengers cannot do anything about.
