Turkish Airlines Damaged My Luggage and Didn't Compensate
Turkish Airlines damaged my luggage and didn't compensate for it because I didn't file a report at the airport. On 23.06.2024, I handed over my luggage in perfect condition before arriving in Istanbul. When I retrieved it at Istanbul airport, one of the wheels was broken. I had to leave urgently, so I couldn't file a report. I dragged the broken-wheeled luggage home, which took at least 45 minutes (excluding time spent in transit). In the following days, I filed a damaged baggage report with the number 2024133440 on a date allowed by their system. They responded, 'We cannot assess compensation for your damaged baggage as there is no report in our system.' Why should I have to cancel my urgent plans because of you? Would you compensate for the loss caused by the cancellation? Either I cancel my plans and deal with filing a report, or I continue with my broken-wheeled luggage and get this response from Turkish Airlines. It's a paradox. Although I don't travel frequently, I've used various domestic and international airlines, and none have been this bad. None of them compensated for damages, but that's because none of them damaged my belongings. I can't say I won't use them again because they know that due to lack of competition, everyone has to use them sometimes. This is the reason for the decline in quality.
