As it was my first time changing a ticket, I was not familiar with the process, and customer service did not provide sufficient information. I had a one-time free change right for the ticket I bought as a student; I learned this from my friends and tried to explain it to customer service. When I preferred to keep the ticket open, they should have informed me that it would result in a No-Show situation and that I would have to pay an extra penalty. Alternatively, they could have said they didn't know and referred me to someone else. However, the representative told me that there would be no penalty fee for keeping the ticket open, only a change fee of $50 when making a change later. But today, while making the change, I learned the real situation and had to pay a total of ₺7,000. Despite THY claiming to support students, I faced this situation. If your dates are not certain, it might be more logical to make a change rather than keeping the ticket open.
