Issue with Alcohol Purchased from Turkish Airlines Duty Free
On December 7, 2023, I landed in Istanbul at around 13:50 local time after flying with THY from Slovenia to Ljubljana Airport at 09:15 local time. For my connecting flight to Ankara at 15:00, I proceeded to the domestic transfer passenger area and bought a carton of cigarettes and a 1-liter bottle of Yeni Raki from the duty-free shop. I informed the cashier that I was in a hurry for my flight and asked them to quickly process my passport. I paid in cash with euros and rushed to catch my connecting flight. However, the security officers at the baggage check did not allow me to pass with the alcohol, claiming it was not in a sealed bag, even though I had the receipt and had purchased it just 5 minutes earlier. I am very upset about this unfair practice. I was unaware that the alcohol needed to be in a sealed bag. If this is a requirement, the duty-free cashier should have known and provided the product accordingly. All events can be verified through camera recordings and I have the receipt. I request compensation for my loss of €20.
