In October 2023, I purchased a portable modem from the Turkcell store. The staff member at the store clearly told me that the device cost would be reflected on my bill in installments over 24 months and that I did not need to return the device. Trusting this information, I agreed to the process, and I did not receive any SMS, call, or written notification regarding a contract cancellation, campaign cancellation, or any similar issue. After about 1.5 years, without any warning, notice, SMS, or phone call, I suddenly encountered an enforcement file. The file appears as 2025/42834 at the Istanbul 30th Enforcement Office. I saw that the total debt had been raised to a high amount with interest, attorney fees, and other charges, and I only learned about this when I saw the enforcement file. Shocked, I called Turkcell customer service and stated that I wanted to return the modem, that I wished to return the device and have the process closed. Despite this, the customer representative told me they did not need to take back the modem and simply said, “You need to pay the penalty/debt,” placing the entire burden on me without offering any solution. I believe this situation stems entirely from incorrect verbal guidance and lack of information provided by the store. Being told at the beginning, “It will be reflected on your bill for 24 months, you don’t need to return it,” and then facing enforcement years later without any notification is both unethical and an unfair practice that harms the consumer. My request is to return the modem, have the enforcement file closed, and have the unjust charges and penalties imposed on me cancelled. I ask that this matter be thoroughly investigated, including the store’s verbal commitments and the lack of proper communication throughout the process, and that my grievance be resolved.
