TuneCore Removed My Approved Album After a Simple Title Edit

April 22 11:40 AM

My pop album titled “u*** u***** - Kadeh,” which I scheduled for release on April 1, 2026 through TuneCore, had completed all approval stages and had already moved to the distribution phase. During this process, I only contacted support because I was unable to use Turkish characters in the song titles and needed help with that issue. The support representative opened the album for editing, and I only corrected the Turkish characters in the song titles.

However, even though the album had gone into distribution, it still appeared as “in editing” in my TuneCore dashboard and looked as if it had not been opened for distribution. I emailed the support team to explain the situation and asked for the status to be corrected. Today, I received a response stating that the album would be completely removed from music stores. The album was then actually removed from stores and also deleted from my albums on TuneCore.

The explanation I received was as follows:

“Thank you for your request to make changes to your release.

During this update, we re-reviewed your release and detected indicators showing the use of Gen AI tools based on datasets that were not properly licensed.

As a result, this release does not meet the new requirements under TuneCore’s Gen AI Music Content Framework, and we can no longer distribute this release. It will be removed from stores.

You may resubmit the release by recreating it without using Gen AI or by using tools based entirely on licensed datasets. To help you with this, you can review our Gen AI Music Content Framework, which explains these requirements in more detail.

We understand that this may be unexpected, especially because the release had already been approved and published. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”

I use legally purchased programs and sound libraries with annual licenses in all of my work. Removing an album that had already been approved and reached the release stage, simply after a title correction, disregards both my creative labor and my financial and emotional investment. In addition, the fact that my TuneCore dashboard continued to show incorrect statuses such as “in editing” shows that the process was not handled transparently or properly.

I request that my album be reviewed again fairly under your new framework for content created legally and in compliance with licensing rules, and that my album “u*** u***** - Kadeh” be restored for distribution across all digital music platforms. I also expect a clear and detailed explanation of what specific data, track, or evidence led TuneCore to conclude that I used Gen AI tools based on unlicensed datasets.
