TuneCore Closed My Account and Withheld $284.43 Over AI Music Claims
I was distributing music I created with Suno AI through TuneCore and sending my releases to all major digital music platforms. Although my songs were generated with artificial intelligence, Suno AI’s terms of use clearly state that I have the commercial usage rights and copyright ownership for the works I create on the platform.
About 2–3 weeks ago, the last three songs I uploaded were rejected with the explanation that I “do not have copyright ownership” of those tracks. After this rejection, my TuneCore account was completely closed. In the email I received from TuneCore support, they claimed that “non-organic / abnormal streaming activity” had been detected on my account and stated that my account would remain closed and that the $284.43 balance in my account would be withheld. I have never used any illegal methods, bots, manipulation, or any similar improper activity. All of my streams were organic.
I own the commercial rights to these AI-generated works under Suno AI’s terms, so it is unacceptable for my songs to be rejected first with the claim that I have no copyright, and then for my account to be closed and my money blocked under an unfair “abnormal activity” accusation. TuneCore says my account was closed because of bot activity, but my most-streamed song on Spotify has not even reached 1,000 plays, and my monthly listeners are only around 30–35. How can this seriously be considered a bot-driven account?
I request that TuneCore reopen my account, release the full $284.43 in blocked earnings to me, and review the incorrect copyright-related reasons given for rejecting my AI-generated works.
