On January 4, 2025, I purchased a fully refundable ticket through Trip.com for a flight operated by Turkish Airlines (THY) and SAS Airlines. Although the price displayed on the website was ₺22,665.22, my card was actually charged ₺23,698.32. I intentionally chose the most expensive fare option to make sure the ticket would be fully refundable in case of any changes.
However, when I later tried to cancel my ticket, I noticed that it had suddenly been changed to “non-refundable” in the system, and my cancellation request was rejected. Trip.com informed me that if I wanted to cancel, I would now face a deduction of around ₺3,900, even though all the terms clearly stated at the time of purchase that it was completely refundable.
I contacted Trip.com customer service multiple times, and each time they told me someone would get back to me—but no one ever did. When I spoke with my bank, they confirmed that the extra amount charged was taken directly by the travel company. My ticket is still active, and the flight is about three months away, meaning I am still within my valid cancellation period. Despite this, I’ve been left without a refund and with no explanation for both the overcharge and the sudden change in refund terms.
I am requesting a full refund of my ticket and the return of the excess amount that was charged. I also expect an explanation as to why the refund conditions were altered after purchase and for my loss to be properly compensated.
