Toyota Let Me Down by Refusing to Replace Faulty Pedal
I own a Toyota Corolla Hybrid vehicle. Since the day I purchased it, all maintenance has been regularly performed at authorized service centers. When I initially reported the accelerator pedal issue seen in the video, the service team said the noise was caused by the sensor and that there was no actual problem. However, as the issue worsened and the pedal lost its smooth operation, I returned to the service center. This time, they claimed dust had entered the pedal and that they had cleaned it, assuring me it wouldn’t happen again. When the problem persisted and I visited the service center for the third time, they finally acknowledged it, stating that the pedal mechanism was faulty and needed replacement, and they prepared a proforma invoice. They told me they would replace it under the Toyota Garanti On program once they received approval from headquarters. Three days later, they called and said the part could not be replaced under warranty. I contacted Toyota headquarters and explained that my vehicle had always been serviced by authorized centers and that I had purchased the Toyota Garanti Spesiyal program to extend the warranty to seven years, as the Garanti On program didn’t exist at the time of purchase. I then requested the replacement under the Garanti Spesiyal program, but they claimed both programs are “mechanical breakdown insurance” and refused to replace the part. Having relied on the Garanti On program and servicing both my 2020 and 2021 Corolla Hybrids at authorized centers has left me disheartened. From now on, I will no longer service my vehicles at authorized Toyota centers. When a problem arises, they don’t stand behind it. They mislead customers into thinking their vehicle is covered under warranty with limited-scope insurances disguised as full coverage. But during purchase, they never disclose the limited nature of this coverage, and customers are pressured into buying it. After this experience, I no longer trust Toyota or its warranty programs and will not consider Toyota in my future vehicle purchases.
