Teka Denies Warranty and Charges $244 for 7-Month-Old Dishwasher Leak
I am using a Teka DSI 46750 SS built-in dishwasher that was installed as part of my brand-new apartment in Tepebaşı / Eskişehir. All built-in appliances, including this dishwasher, were installed by the construction company, and I moved into the apartment in July 2025. I began using the dishwasher as a brand-new product at that time.
In the last week of January 2026, approximately seven months after I started using it, the dishwasher began leaking water from underneath the left front leg. As soon as we noticed the leak, we contacted Teka technical service, and a service record was opened under the name Murat Var. During the service process, I was informed that the warranty period of the machine had already expired and that the spare part and repair would cost approximately $244 (possibly $248). I was told that the warranty period started when the construction company first unboxed the appliance, and that my installation or first-use date as the end user did not matter.
However, when Teka service first came to my home for installation, this information was never explained to me, nor was I warned that my warranty had already started or was close to expiring. As a consumer who began using this dishwasher as new and has only used it for about seven months, I find it unfair to face a repair bill of approximately $244 due to a malfunction that occurred after such a short period of normal use.
I am filing this complaint and requesting that the leak issue with my Teka DSI 46750 SS dishwasher be evaluated within the scope of the warranty I am entitled to as the end user, and that the necessary repairs and replacement parts be provided free of charge. I also request that my warranty start date be based on my actual installation and first-use date, and that I be provided with Teka’s final assessment of this matter in writing.
Thank you very much for your fast communication and problem solving.
