TEB Credit Card Charged ₺420 for Membership Fee

On April 16, 2024, my CepteTeb credit card ending in 7682 was charged ₺420 for a membership fee. According to Article 31 of Consumer Law No. 6502, card issuers are obliged to offer credit cards without charging consumers any annual membership fees or similar charges. Additionally, under Article 6 of Law No. 4077 on Consumer Protection, as amended by Law No. 4822, the membership fee charged by your bank is deemed an unfair clause as it does not correspond to any service provided. Based on the definitive ruling in case no. 2011/4736 and decision no. 2011/11579 by the 13th Civil Chamber, retroactive refunds are mandated for annual card membership fees, as per Article 125 of the Turkish Civil Code and the decision of the General Assembly of the Court of Cassation. I demand a refund of the membership fee based on these laws and regulations. I also request the cancellation and refund of the membership fee within the day, along with notification via SMS and email. Otherwise, I will escalate the matter to the Consumer Arbitration Committee for a refund and, if my grievance is not addressed, I will proceed to cancel my card and accounts with your bank. Please take appropriate action promptly.
Dear Valued Customer, Your message sent to the sikayetvar.com website has been received by our Bank, and you will be informed as soon as possible. Best regards, TEB
