Sunglass Hut Ankamall Rejects Prada Warranty Claim Over Frame Paint Peeling

Approximately 1.5 years ago, I purchased a pair of premium Prada sunglasses from the Sunglass Hut store in Ankamall, Ankara. Well within the statutory two-year warranty period, the paint on the inner frame began peeling spontaneously. As a collector who rotates between multiple pairs of eyewear, this product received light and infrequent use.

When I brought the sunglasses to Sunglass Hut Ankamall to request warranty service, store personnel immediately pre-judged the failure as "user error" before initiating any technical evaluation. Following my insistence, the item was submitted for formal inspection. On August 4, 2026, the service center rejected the claim, alleging speculative exposure to alcohol-based substances or cosmetics—offering zero objective technical evidence or laboratory proof.

I do not use hairsprays, gels, or alcohol-based cosmetic products. Expecting a premium designer frame to lose its finish within 1.5 years, while lower-tier eyewear used for over a decade remains intact, indicates a clear manufacturing or material defect. Dismissing legitimate warranty claims based on unsubstantiated assumptions violates consumer rights under defective goods legislation.

I demand that Sunglass Hut acknowledge this material defect and provide a brand-new replacement pair or issue a full refund. Should Sunglass Hut fail to rectify this grievance, I will escalate this dispute to the Consumer Arbitration Board for legal enforcement.
