SunExpress Flight Delay and Poor Communication Led to Missed Events and Financial Loss



On August 16, 2024, our SunExpress flight scheduled for 09:45 AM departed at 03:45 PM. When I arrived at the airport early in the morning with my two young children, we were informed that the flight would be delayed by 4 hours and 55 minutes. There was no notification via SMS or email. We ended up waiting 6 hours, including an hour sitting on the plane before takeoff. We were supposed to arrive at our hotel in time for lunch but barely made it for dinner. Due to the delay, we missed an important evening event, resulting in financial losses.
Additionally, there was inconsistent information from airport staff and the call center regarding the reason for the delay. We were told refreshments would be provided, but they were only given an hour before the flight finally took off. We were severely inconvenienced, and to make matters worse, we were told we had no right to compensation. It seems like compensation would only be considered if something catastrophic happened. This experience has been extremely disappointing.
