On August 28, 2024, my wife, my son, and I were scheduled to fly from Eindhoven to Antalya with SunExpress Airlines at 10:05 AM. The flight was first delayed to 1:55 PM, then to 4:05 PM, and eventually rescheduled to 11:20 AM on August 29, 2024. When I spoke with a SunExpress representative on the phone, they confirmed that we were entitled to compensation for the delay. With the assurance that our compensation rights would remain unaffected, we changed our flight to the 10:55 AM Düsseldorf to Dalaman flight on August 29, 2024.
In addition to the exhaustion of traveling with a 2-year-old child, we lost the transfer fee we had paid for Antalya, and we had to stay in a hotel due to the early morning flight from Düsseldorf—costs we had to cover ourselves. Moreover, we lost a day of our annual leave because of the delay. I applied through their website for the compensation we are legally entitled to for a delay exceeding 24 hours, but it was rejected without any justification.
Despite the information on their own website according to EU laws, they still refuse to pay and have rejected our claim without providing any reason. We will exercise all our legal rights in response to this situation. I am leaving my contact information for company officials to reach out and correct this mistake.
Sincerely.
