Sony WF-1000XM4 Becomes Disposable After 2 Years — No Battery Replacement Available

After speaking today with Sony Eurasia and their authorized service center, I learned that premium wireless earbuds such as the Sony WF-1000XM4 are not eligible for battery replacement once the warranty period has expired. This policy means that when the battery eventually dies, the product cannot be repaired, effectively turning a high-end device into a disposable gadget.

For example, a new model priced at ₺11,000 offers an average lifespan of just 24–30 months, which translates to roughly ₺460 per month of use (excluding music subscription costs). After about two years, the product becomes completely nonfunctional, contributing to electronic waste despite being marketed as a premium, durable device.

I strongly advise anyone considering these products to understand that, despite the high price, their lifespan is limited, and sustainable repair options simply don’t exist. Sony should take responsibility for this planned obsolescence by ensuring long-term repairability and offering official post-warranty battery replacement programs.
