On 17.09.2025 at 19:34, I refueled my car with plate number 33 DVD 99 at the Shell LPG station of Hıdıroğlu İnşaat in Mersin/Tarsus. Since my tank was empty, I requested a full fill-up. However, during the process, the pump kept delivering fuel even after the tank was full, and 40.190 liters of gas were pumped into my 42-liter donut LPG tank. I paid ₺1,085.08 by credit card. Before leaving the station, I noticed a gas smell and upon checking, I saw that the LPG was leaking from the float valve. Gas was spurting in liquid form, producing white smoke. Despite reporting this to the station staff, they dismissed it, saying “overfilling is harmless, your system is faulty.” The staff member who performed the filling refused to accept responsibility, and aside from one worker wiping with a wet cloth, no help was given. When I later took the car to an LPG service, the inspection showed that the excessive fueling had punctured and damaged the float, creating an explosion risk, and the tank had to be emptied with the float replaced. Because of this incident, ₺669.08 worth of LPG was wasted, I incurred additional costs for float replacement, and my family and I were forced to wait at the station for hours under serious life-threatening risk. When I reported this again to the station, I was told, “Filling cannot puncture the float, we always overfill.” My requests are: compensation for the damage to my vehicle (including float replacement costs), refund of the wasted ₺1,085.08 LPG payment, and acknowledgment of responsibility with preventive measures from the company. Otherwise, I will escalate the matter to the Consumer Arbitration Committee, Consumer Court, and other legal channels.
