While playing Rocket League, I joined the in-game chat during a match and asked the opposing team a harmless question: “How are you playing so well?” They replied saying they were ranked Bronze, and the conversation seemed casual at first. But then they asked how old I was. When I shared my age, the tone immediately changed.
Out of nowhere, I started receiving vulgar and abusive messages, including things like “Send your ID” and much worse—direct insults and profanities targeting me and my family. I was completely shocked and upset by the way I was treated just for being open in a gaming environment.
This is unacceptable. Epic Games, your platform needs stricter moderation and stronger reporting tools. Players, especially younger ones, should not be subjected to this kind of harassment during what’s supposed to be a fun and safe online experience.
I’m calling on Epic and, if necessary, legal authorities to take immediate action against toxic and abusive players. This behavior violates community standards and basic human decency. I expect meaningful consequences for those responsible and better protection for players going forward.
