Remitly Failed to Deliver My $17,555 Transfer to Garanti Bank

On January 28, I sent approximately $17,555 to Turkey from the United States through Remitly. The recipient’s checking account in Turkish lira at Garanti Bank was entered correctly and in full. Despite this, the Remitly app shows the transaction as “delivered to the recipient,” yet not a single cent has reached the recipient’s Garanti Bank account.
This kind of inconsistency in a transaction involving such a large amount is unacceptable. For days, both the sender and the recipient have been seriously affected by this uncertainty. I have contacted Remitly customer service multiple times, but each time I was only stalled, given no clear information, offered no accountability, and provided with no concrete solution.
The fact that no clear, written explanation has been provided about where this $17,555 transaction is creates a serious trust issue. I request that Remitly immediately transfer the full amount to the recipient’s Garanti Bank checking account, or, if that cannot be done, refund the full $17,555 to me without delay. I also demand a detailed explanation of why the transaction appears as “delivered” in the system even though the funds never reached the bank, and I request that an urgent investigation be opened into the harm this has caused.
