Philips 58PUS8506 Screen Issue Shows Color Loss and Distortion
On May 24, 2022, I purchased a Philips 58PUS8506/62 model television. I stored the product for about 1.5 years before starting to use it. Shortly after I began using it, a serious color loss and display distortion appeared in the upper-left corner of the screen. Over time, this issue has become more noticeable.
When I contacted the authorized service, I was told that the warranty had expired and I was offered a high-cost repair. However, during my discussions with technical staff, they clearly stated that this issue was not caused by user error and could be a chronic or manufacturing-related panel defect specific to this model.
There is a clear contradiction here: if the issue is acknowledged as a manufacturing defect, it is unacceptable to charge the customer a high repair fee simply because the warranty period has expired. The failure of this product in a way that is disproportionate to its actual usage falls under defective goods or latent defect.
My expectations from Philips are:
The product should be repaired free of charge
If repair is not possible, a replacement or alternative solution should be offered
Otherwise, I will exercise my legal rights and file a complaint with the Consumer Arbitration Committee.
I have also seen that other users are experiencing similar issues. This suggests that the problem is not isolated but rather a widespread or chronic defect. I request that Philips acknowledge this issue and provide a proper resolution instead of ignoring customer grievances.
