On January 26, 2026, at 12:56 AM, I took an IQ test on myiq.com. To view my test results, I paid approximately $1 using my Ziraat Bank debit card, believing it was a one-time payment. However, today is March 3, and on March 2, 2026, I received a message from Ziraat Bank stating: “Dear customer, a transaction of approximately $31 with your bank card ending in 7944 could not be completed due to insufficient funds.” Since I did not authorize such a transaction, I contacted Ziraat Bank customer service and was informed that the charge attempt was made by myiq.com. I immediately canceled my card on March 3, 2026.
I then realized that on March 2–3, 2026, unauthorized subscription charges of approximately $30 and $31 were attempted without my knowledge or consent. Upon reviewing my account activity, I also noticed an earlier unauthorized charge of about $1 on February 2, 2026.
I tried to find a way to cancel the subscription on the MyIQ website and eventually located the cancellation option hidden under the “support” section. I canceled a subscription that I never knowingly signed up for.
At this point, I have already canceled my Ziraat Bank debit card. I want to clearly state that if any further charges are attempted or processed, I will file a formal complaint. The website misled users by not clearly and transparently disclosing the subscription during the initial $1 payment and instead enrolling users into a hidden subscription. At no point did I knowingly consent to such a subscription or recurring charges.
This practice resembles what is known in the tech industry as “dark patterns”—manipulative design tactics used to trick users into unintended actions. Charging users without clear consent through such methods is unacceptable and a serious violation of consumer trust. I intend to pursue all my legal rights, including filing a claim with the Consumer Arbitration Committee if necessary. I expect such deceptive practices to be stopped immediately.
I am filing a complaint regarding the attempted unauthorized charges of $30 and $31 and the unauthorized subscription created without my consent.
