Mercedes GLC 180 Brake Disc Warping at Only 30000 KM

When I brought my 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC 180 (X254) to the authorized service center for its 30,000 km scheduled maintenance, I informed the technical team about a severe vibration issue felt through the steering wheel during braking. Following the inspection, the service team determined that the brake discs had become warped. However, they claimed this was entirely due to “user error,” based on the assumption that the discs may have come into contact with water while hot.
I was then informed that the brake discs are considered consumable parts and therefore excluded from warranty coverage. The dealership presented me with two options: either pay for a replacement during the current service visit or continue driving the vehicle for another 7,000–8,000 km with the same issue because, according to them, the problem only affected “driving comfort” and did not pose a safety risk.
I am an extremely careful driver who personally washes and maintains my vehicle. I consciously avoid exposing hot brake discs to water and do not have aggressive driving habits that would excessively strain the vehicle’s mechanical systems. This is the third Mercedes-Benz vehicle I have owned in my lifetime, and encountering such a serious brake disc deformation at such low mileage is completely unacceptable to me. Dismissing the issue as a “consumable part problem” and refusing warranty support does not align with the premium quality and engineering standards expected from Mercedes-Benz.
It is deeply disappointing that a Mercedes-Benz SUV model appears to use brake discs that cannot withstand ordinary temperature changes under standard driving conditions, while the company shifts the responsibility for this technical problem onto the customer. In addition, the service department’s recommendation that I continue driving the vehicle despite the noticeable vibration — simply because they claim it affects “comfort rather than safety” — is far below the level of seriousness and professionalism I expect from a premium automotive brand.
As a loyal Mercedes-Benz customer, I expect the brand to take responsibility for what I believe to be a chronic or manufacturing-related issue and resolve my inconvenience immediately by replacing the defective brake discs free of charge under goodwill support or normal warranty coverage.
