I Got Panel Lines on My LG 49SM8600PLA TV

I bought my LG 49SM8600PLA Nanocell TV from Media Markt on February 10, 2020. After just five years—and during most of that time the TV was rarely even used—the screen developed a serious panel issue. Thin horizontal lines stretch across the entire screen, making it nearly unwatchable.
When I contacted the authorized service center, they told me it’s a panel failure. The repair would cost ₺7,500, and if I want the panel replaced, it jumps to a shocking ₺18,000! That’s nearly the price of a brand new TV.
I called LG customer service hoping for a reasonable solution, but all they told me was that I could request a discount from LG headquarters. That’s it. No guarantees, no accountability—just a vague promise of a possible price cut.
The panel replacement fee is 18,700 TL, and LG headquarters informed me by phone that this price is reasonable. Truly reasonable, indeed. LG is over for me. No one stands behind their product. For more than half of these 5 years, the TV wasn't even turned on. A TV that breaks down with such little use and a fiasco brand that doesn't stand behind it. Good luck to LG from now on. Don't buy it, don't let others buy it.
I repaired the TV myself by looking it up online and using a tiny piece of tape. It was very easy. I kept my money. LG didn't offer any discounts either. The other day at BİM, a 50-inch Philips TV and a 55-inch TCL TV were 17,000 TL. If it breaks down again, I'll switch directly to these.
