Kuveyt Türk Forced ATM Deposit and Arbitrary Treatment
On May 22, 2026, before noon, I went to the Polatlı Kuveyt Türk branch to deposit ₺84,000 into my own account at the teller. After asking for my ID, the teller said that my account was at my own branch in Demirtepe, and therefore they would email the Demirtepe branch, and only deposit the money if they approved it. I explained that I had previously been able to deposit money into my account at other Kuveyt Türk branches without any questions, conditions, or fees, and that I had never encountered such a practice before. The argument escalated to the branch manager, but the manager defended the same practice. After a while, I received an email from the Demirtepe branch stating that they could not deposit the money at the teller and that I had to deposit it via ATM. I have experienced on numerous occasions that the teller at this branch acts completely arbitrarily, sometimes accepting the money at the teller's counter and sometimes not. Furthermore, the manager asked me if I would be performing any other transactions after depositing the money, and whether the money would remain in the account; I would like to state that this question was extremely inappropriate and disturbing. I considered leaving the bank and depositing the money at another bank, but due to the long queues and the time it would take to travel to Ankara, I returned to the Polatlı branch and tried to deposit the money via ATM. Just then, I saw the teller performing an update on the machine, a transaction related to the deposit limit. The ATM deposit process was quite cumbersome; I waited a long time at the machine, it repeatedly rejected the money and returned it, and only after much effort was I able to deposit the money. I have repeatedly experienced that this practice of the Polatlı branch is completely arbitrary. Even when the branch is not busy, some days they take the money from the teller, while on other days they insistently direct customers to the ATM for transactions. I request a clear written explanation of the so‑called “new rule” cited by the branch, an end to this arbitrary and inconsistent practice, and a guarantee that customers will be able to deposit money into their own accounts through the teller without being forced to use the ATM. I also expect the inappropriate and disturbing attitude and questions of the branch staff and manager to be examined, and, if necessary, that the relevant personnel be warned so that similar situations do not recur.
