iRobot Braava m6 Refund Denied Over Hygiene Policy

I purchased an iRobot Braava m6 Robot Mop for use in my home from iRobot.com.tr, the official website of Certus Mercatus Dış Ticaret A.Ş., the distributor in Türkiye, on May 18, 2026, for approximately $258. Despite testing the product repeatedly over the course of 3–4 days, it failed to even complete the mapping process on every attempt and did not function properly.

Since the product had problems from the very first day, I requested a return. However, regarding my order dated May 16, 2026, order number 27668, the company sent me an email stating that my return request could not be accepted because the product was considered a hygiene and personal-use item, and that opened and used products could not be returned under the applicable regulations and exceptions to the right of withdrawal. The company also stated that the product could not be resold because it could no longer meet hygiene standards. During our phone conversations, I was likewise told that the return would not be accepted for “hygiene reasons.”

Although it is clear that the product was used only for my personal use at home and tested for a very short period, and that it did not function properly from the beginning or even complete the mapping process, I do not accept having my return rejected on these grounds despite my legal 14-day right of withdrawal. I also consider the fact that the same product was removed from sale after my purchase to be something that reinforces my impression that there may have been a known issue with the product.

During this process, I prepared the necessary documents and provided them to my lawyer so that I can pursue legal remedies. I request a full refund of the purchase price, as well as the restoration of my rights concerning a defective/non-functioning product. To prevent similar situations from affecting other consumers, I request that the right of withdrawal and return procedures for purchases made through iRobot.com.tr not be restricted to the detriment of consumers and that this practice be reviewed.
