Unauthorized Charge After Attempted Cancellation at Bergama Aristonicus Hotel via Hotels.com App

I made a room reservation at Bergama Aristonicus Boutique Hotel through the Hotels app for August 3, 2024, with payment to be made in cash at the hotel. During the booking process, my card details were requested. Due to an urgent reason, I contacted the hotel to cancel the reservation, but they informed me that it couldn't be canceled. Just 10 minutes after the call, the accommodation fee was charged to my card, even though I hadn’t checked in or stayed at the hotel. This is unacceptable.
