Hotels.com Charged Me for a Canceled Booking I Didn’t Use

I made a reservation through Hotels.com and canceled it within an hour. The cancellation was confirmed, and I was assure...d that no charges would apply. But to my shock, 10 days later, the full amount for a 3-night stay was withdrawn from my account—despite the fact that I never stayed at the hotel.
