Hostelworld Macar Taşı Hotel Booking Not Recognized Despite Payment

On May 11, 2024, I was searching for a hotel in Maçka, Trabzon, and found a discounted room at Macar Taşı Hotel via Hostelworld. I completed the reservation through Hostelworld’s official site for a one-night stay from July 3 to July 4, paying the required pre-booking fee with my credit card. I received a confirmation email with my booking details, so I thought everything was set.

To be sure, on May 12, I reached out to the hotel’s WhatsApp number, provided my reservation number, and asked them to confirm. Shockingly, they said my reservation wasn’t in their system and asked how much I’d paid. When I shared the details, they claimed no such room exists at that rate or for those dates.

So, did I actually reserve this room or not? If Hostelworld accepted my payment and confirmed my stay, why can’t the hotel find my booking? Or is the hotel rejecting my reservation to avoid honoring the discount? I expect an immediate response from either Hostelworld or Macar Taşı Hotel to clarify this confusing situation and ensure my reservation is valid.
